Countdown to Summer!

Good morning, KIPPsters!

I cannot believe we are nearly finished with the 2017-18 school year, or that this is our second-to-last newsletter! Well, pretty much our last, because the very last one will just be updates about next year and pictures of our very first KIPP: Prime Artists mural!

What we've been up to:

Last week, our KIPP: Prime Artists Art Club began working on our very first mural! The students decided on a mountain scene for two reasons:

1. It represents what we are doing here at KIPP: Prime--"Cimbing the mountain to and through college!"

2. We wanted to keep it visually simple and add lots of color to our hallway walls!

We found inspiration for our design online and are proud to say that the project is already underway! We will be beginning the painting process this week (and finishing it next week if we need more work time)!

Additionally, students have been working on their final project on Social Impact, designing murals of their own in class! We've been pondering the message of murals we admire and how they impact the communities they inspire. From there, we've been considering what messages we would like to convey to our communities here are school, and designing beautiful artwork that we would someday like to see painted on the walls of KIPP: Prime.

What's coming up:

With only nine school days left in the year, I'm happy to say that there's not that much left to do! Students are MAP testing and finishing up strong in their core classes. In Art, we're putting the finishing touches on many of our projects from this quarter and sending lots and lots of work home! (Hope your refrigerator is ready to display some fabulous art!).

May 31 & June 1: 6th Grade EOY Trip

June 7th & 8th: Half-days and EOY Award Ceremonies

June 8th: Last day of school!
