Ok, so I know it's not quite April yet, but we've been getting into the spirit of the holiday by creating Optical Illusion artwork in our classroom this week!
What we've been up to:

Our KIPP: Prime Artists have been learning about how our brains perceive objects in space, and how to trick our system into seeing something that isn't (and can't be!) real. If you're interested, you can learn more about that here.
So far, our artists have created two OP Art illusions so far, and they've enjoyed it so much, we may go for a third! Some of their work is truly spectacular. (Don't worry, pictures are coming soon!)
We are also proud to announce that our very first KIPP: Prime Artists Art Club held its first meeting back in February. Since then, they've come up with some incredible ideas to explore their passion for the arts and beautify our school.
We meet every Monday afternoon, from dismissal to 5:30. Look out for some color popping up on KIPP: Prime's white walls before the end of the year!
What's coming up:
As we wrap up our module on 3-D design and Illusion, we will be shifting gears into one more practicum module (printmaking!) and then Social Impact. In that last, we will be helping design and select a school mural for the Art Club to make a reality! Exciting things happening over here! :)

Shout-outs:
Shout-out to Audrey C. from LSU for her incredible ideas and inquiry during Art Club!
Shout-out to Elmer A. from JSU for his tenacious attitude towards his goals, and his focus on improving himself!
Shout-out to Raul H. from UCI for his focus and attention to detail in his work!
And shout-out to Dominique B. from JSU for his perseverance and tenacity on this latest project!
That's all for now, KIPPsters! Let's finish this year strong! It's Prime T.I.M.E.!
