I'll be updating this ongoing list of Art contests as I find them! If you need help getting materials or print-outs, just ask me in class. I'll be happy to help.
IMPORTANT: Read the directions for each contest carefully from their websites (hyperlinked below). As with any competition, it is important that you understand and follow all the rules, or you may be disqualified. You parents/guardians will need to give you permission to participate in any art contest.
Due: December 15, 2017
Ages: 12 and under
Prizes: Up to $300 in outdoor prizes!
Subject: "Calling all kids! Draw Your Dream Yard for a chance to win $300 in outdoor prizes. What would you put in your backyard if it could include all of your favorite things? Draw your imaginary dream yard, describing the features your yard would include, for a chance to win $300 in awards and prizes."
Due: December 23, 2017
Ages: 13 and under
Prizes: $50.00 gift to Amazon and two $25.00 gifts to Amazon. Plus, each winner will receive a Colorbug hat!
Subject: "To celebrate the new and improved version of Colorbug, Lyle the Ladybug is having a Christmas Drawing contest! Draw your own Christmas scene using the new tools and fun stamps or colour in one of the existing Christmas pictures!"
Due: January 15, 2018
Ages: 5-15
Prizes: "The winner will be named Children’s Artist of the Sea and will receive a trophy, $500 in books and $500 to be used as an educational fund."
Subject: "Pick one of the following message/ theme: 1: ‘NO SHARK FINS’ – the message of your painting is to discourage shark fins soup and give a better image for sharks; or 2. ‘NO MORE PLASTIC’ - the message of your painting is to discourage use of straws, plastic bags and wrappings."
Due: January 19, 2018
Ages: 6-17
Prizes: "All national winners receive certificates, ribbons and a framed reproduction of their artwork with the original being forwarded to FAI for the international competition."
Subject: “What new innovations and ideas will shape the aviation of the future? From hang gliders and parachutists, to drone pilots and citizen astronauts, the only limit to the future of flight is the imagination of builders, dreamers and pilots of today. It’s time to tap into your own imagination, grab your favorite set of crayons, markers, pencils, or paints and create a poster for this year’s Fédération Aéronautique Internationale’s theme, Flight into the Future. Show us your vision of what can happen when people work together and follow their passion for flight.”
Due: February 1, 2018
Ages: 16 and under
Prizes: "Each shortlisted entry will receive a certificate and a goody bag with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places chosen from the exhibited shortlist. The top three will receive cash prizes generously donated by the event sponsor, Michael O’Mara Books, for the furtherance of art or conservation education projects at the winning school or artclub. 1st prize = £200, 2nd prize = £150, 3rd prize = £100."
Subject: "We are asking groups (eg your art club, class, year or school) to interpret this year’s theme: 'Into The Wild.'"
Due: February 12, 2018
Ages: 6-12
Prizes: The winning entry is featured on the front cover of Jack and Jill or Humpty Dumpty magazine, with second-, third-place, and Readers’ Choice winners’ art showcased inside the same issue. In addition, U.S. Kids also recognizes winners’ art departments and teachers with cash awards to help support their programs.
Subject: Through this contest, U.S. Kids hopes to encourage young minds and those who teach them to continue creating wonderful art. “You can’t use up creativity,” writer Maya Angelou said. “The more you use, the more you have.”We look forward to the imaginative creations on this year’s theme: “My Imaginary Creature” — What does it look like? Where does it live? What unique abilities does it have?
